Rafał Olbiński’s Friendly Persuasion

Friendly Persuasion

A comment by Petronius in this entry brought to my attention the works of Rafał Olbiński. I know some of us enjoy not only stories and collages about giantesses and shrunken men, but other types of media as well. For my part I love books, and I love art; and I combine those and collect art books when I get the chance to do so. I was a little surprised to never have heard of Rafał Olbiński, especially when… well, look at these images!

La Dolce Vita

La Dolce Vita

La Dolce Vita – I wish I could tell you the reason behind the creation of this poster, because on one hand there’s Nino Rota, who wrote the music for the Fellini film with the same title, but on the other hand Krzesimir Dębski, a classical music composer, also has his name on the poster.

There’s no mention of a Dolce Vita ballet on the Internet or on a list of his works, so I’m just going to concentrate on the fact that there’s a giant ballerina wearing a coliseum as part of her dancing attire, and three men are carrying ladders in her direction.

That blue sky (actually the style of the whole painting) reminds me of Magritte’s work, sans the apples and the faceless.

La Traviata

La Traviata

La Traviata – Was the first opera I ever went to listen live. I love the opera. I sit here thinking of it, and my heart pounds. This poster was created for the New York City Opera performance of Verdi’s La Traviata in 1992.

Considering Violetta’s fate, it’s interesting to see her portrayed as larger than life, with whom I assume is Alfredo taking the place of her mouth.

Madama Butterfly

Madama Butterfly

Madama Butterfly – Another magnificent opera I have had the bitter pleasure of seeing live. The poster was created for the Utah Opera 2000’s performance of Madama Butterfly.

If only she were that size, then Pinkerton would have some sense of regret for his cruel actions. He would most likely feel this sense of regret between his legs, from what used to be there.

It’s also possible that a giantess Butterfly would have rearranged Pinkerton’s face instead of killing herself and allowing another woman to raise her child.

The Tales of Hoffman

The Tales of Hoffman

The Tales of Hoffman – An opera by Jacques Offenbach based on three short stories by E.T.A. Hoffman, and the poster was created for the Opera Pacific, which doesn’t seem to exist anymore.

I’ll skip my rants on why that might be, avoid an enraged diatribe about the state of music in this economy, and instead mention that this is a lovely poster. It reminds me of Kinuko Y. Craft’s illustrations, although not as exuberant.

Innocence of Courteous Intentions

Innocence of Courteous Intentions

Innocence of Courteous Intentions – A painting and not a poster. It makes me think of the Clash of the Titans movie, in which gods can see the little mortals through some sort of mirror or glass on a table.

I can’t remember it well because I haven’t seen it in so long, but I bet you know what I’m talking about, since in it the gods are giant.

Dammit, now I won’t be able to rest until I see what it was for myself. I’ll be back later. Gonna fish it out of my DVD collection.

(Later…)

Alright, it was some sort of toy amphitheater where the gods would play with the little clay people and thus change their destinies. There’s nothing about this image that implies this, but there’s something godlike about looking down at a city through the window of a kitchen table top, and observing the little people’s lives as they scurry about from place to place.

Tosca

Tosca

Tosca – I assume this is another performance poster, as Tosca is an opera. Those puppet strings make for great interaction.

There are a few other images on the Internet byRafał Olbiński that show the size difference we like between men and women, if you would like to conduct a search for them.

Menicure, not manicure!

Because more than one little man is necessary.

Because more than one little man is necessary.

Last night I was reading MattyBoy’s latest Math post, in which he used a ladder to illustrate his point. So I’m reading about the ladder and given how my mind lives in the gutter- in fact, sometimes I think the gutter is in my mind, but never mind.

So I’m thinking a ladder is what a shrunken man needs to climb up to those hard-to-reach places that are a woman’s… well, every part of a woman except her toes and heels, because every once in a while she grows so tall even the arch of her foot is a distant domed ceiling. Anyway, I was thinking about that, and then just a few minutes ago I tripped on the Flickr image above.

It’s fun when the universe conspires to divert me. Thank you, universe.

There are other similar images (just a few) in the author’s photostream, if you wish to take a gander. Here’s another effective use of a ladder I really like.

Daniel Nassoy’s Views

February 16, 2009 · Leave a Comment

I’m poking around my WordPress admin area, trying to find a blog theme that fulfills my every dream and does the laundry as well, but no luck so far. I also fiddled with my Firefox bookmarks during the weekend, and deleted a large number of them that I originally intended to use in collages. A few are no longer part of the Internet, and others had to go because I will never have time to use them.

Among them I found Manstouch, a gallery of male nude photography and art I bookmarked before I began to have certain ideas about the source of materials I wanted to use for my collages. The reason I saved the link was a series of images titled “Views”, by Daniel Nassoy. They are displayed below, and as you can see they are all about shrunken men, several of them trapped in glass bottles or jars.

Here’s what Mr. Nassoy writes about his images:

My work and photography can be summed up in a single word, ESCAPE. Whether it is through black and white photographs of gardens, flowers, architecture, or through an enduring passion for male nudes, or even through reworking colour photos on the computer, I am looking for Evasion. In my photography I am escaping, and everybody who sees my photos can also dream and escape. Photography allows me the time, to look, to admire, to sublimate and communicate my passion and sometimes my fantasies.

A-ha! Fantasies about tiny men encapsulated in various interesting containers, I think.

Chocolate Salty Balls

October 7, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Uh-oh, now they are in trouble...

Uh-oh, now they are in trouble...

This is a collage I worked on last year, partly to acknowledge a very good story I had just read, written by Canuck, who’s given me permission to share it here. I’m sure many of you have read it, but here it is anyway.

Venus Attacks! by Canuck

How does my collage relate to the story? Well, in both cases the little guys have balls. Huge ones. However, in my collage, they came into unlawful possession of their balls, and shall have to be punished appropriately… until they escape and / or plot a comeuppance. In Canuck’s stories, little guys are always planning something wicked against much taller women (such as stealing their doughnuts).

And the title of the collage? Well, it was the only chance I had to name a collage “Chocolate Salty Balls”, and here’s the recipe, from Isaac Hayes’ book, one of my favorite in my cookbook collection, and not because it’s autographed. The meatloaf recipe is probably the best I’ve ever tried.

Buffalax needs to come out of the vore closet

October 1, 2008 · Leave a Comment

You know how it is in the giantess community. We see a commercial with a giantess, and we begin to imagine that the brains behind the ad must have a soft spot for size fetishes. We see a movie where a woman is crushing an eyeball, and we contend that the director / producer has giantess crush fantasies.

I’m inclined to believe giantesses and shrunken men make a very valid marketing point for reasons that escape the fetish realm, so I don’t sit around pondering that stuff.

Well, I didn’t until I stumbled upon this youtube video of an Indian Thriller song, which I presume is part of a film, one of those musicals so popular in India (I watch them as often as I can). The uploader, Buffalax, invented subtitles for the song based on what the words in Tamil—a language with official status in India and other countries—sound like).

Every time I watch it, I laugh. It reminds me of my childhood, and the way I used to sing in “English” before I ever learned the language. And the dancing, facial expressions, and vampire teeth? Pure gold. Anyway, after watching the video a few times, it became clear to me that the uploader, Buffalax, is totally into vore.

There’s a clear explanation for his constant mentioning food consumption closely interwoven with elements not to be thought of as food, but if I were to offer it up with formal references and a psychological manual, that would seriously cut into the time I’m spending making baseless claims as to the inclinations of someone I’ve never met.

So I’ll just throw the subtitled video and this this photoshopped menu your way, and let you make your own conclusion. As long as your conclusion is exactly like mine.

Clearly this man is into vore. There can't be any other opinion on this matter.

How does a little man eat his Reeses?

August 29, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I’m going to repost something from my ex-blog, because I’m lazy…

* * * * *

With great difficulty!

How? With great difficulty!

Back when I spent some time looking for collaging material last year and during the beginning of this year, one of the image sources I chose was Flickr. I like to use those that members specify can be modified, but that’s neither there or anywhere.

That’s where I found this image (and the one above, by the same member) a few months ago, and bookmarked it. Every time I look at it I smile:

Runny nose!

Runny nose, get it?

There are more that have a theme of size difference, and those I predilect, hence my sharing his fun work.

I still say that chocolate and peanut butter don’t have any business mingling together, but then again I only understand the appeal of grape soda. I mean, if I ever grow a hundred feet in height, the country that produces the best tasting grape soda will earn my allegiance.

But I’m afraid the first factories to go down under the weight of my foot would be the Reeses and Twinkies ones. Yuck.
